HOW TO CONNECT YOUR VIC 

Welcome to computing! The following step-by-step instructions show you 
how 10 unpock the VIC, connect it »o your television set and moke sure it's 
working pfOpeHy. 

Let's begin by taking a quick look at the VIC 20:

Check the contents of your VIC container. You should fir^i the following items: 
t • VIC 20 Personal Computer 

• Power Supply (iorge box with 2 coi-ds coming out of it| 

• RF Modulotor (smoU metal box) ond coble 

• Cooxiol coble with plugs 



You will need 2 e/ec*ncol outlets (sockets) — one for the VIC and one for 
* your television set. 



Position the VIC ond feJevision se' so you con use the keyboard comforicbly 
while viewing the television screen . . ideally, o tobletop or desk-

Connect the vtOeo cob/e to the bock 
of the VIC ond lo (he RF Modulator 
box, OS shown. Moke sure to connect 
it to the video port and no' to the 6-pin 
serial po'l, which is next to it.

Turn on the TV set The RF modulator hos a switch which ollows selection of either 
Chcnnel or Channel 1. Select either chcrnel on your TV set. 

Tu'H on the VIC ^the red power light on the top of the 
LOmpoter should come on| . If the power light does not glow, 
consult the accompanying chart. 



Tune the television until a shorp imogc is obtained. The (mo tuning on your 
television may nead some odjustment. Here is what you should see on the st reen 
sometimes it tokcs a second or two to activate. If 
you don't get the following display on your screen, 
turn the computer off. woit a few seconds and *ufn it 
on cgom 



Adjusting the colour and tint/ hue depends 
on the colour controls provided on your 
television set naturoHy, sets with better 
controls yield better colour . Some sets show 
some colours better thon others.

(o) Commodore worronfs to the origind purchaser (the "Purchoser"! that the VIC sold to the 
Purchoser shall be free from defects m motends ond workmonship for a penod of 90 days 
ffom the dote of purchose by the Purchoser. In the event thot c defect covered by this 
worranfy is discovered within this 90 day worronty penod Commodore wili at its ophof\ eithe» 
repair Of rejAice the VIC upon detvery of the defective VlC by the Pun:hoser to Ifie 
Commodore dealer from w^om the VIC vrtis purchased. Any claim under this warranty must 
be made by the Purchoser to such decle* within the 90 doy period. All transport charges 
incurred by either the Purchoser or Commodore m connection wtth c ctoim under thi? warranty 
shall be paid by (be Purchaser. 

The fofegoing worronty (the "Worrority") does nor opply in the fdlowing ccses:- 
(i) defect^ damoge or rrwlfunctions suffered by or existing m the VIC resulting from improper 

horxilinft cccidefif or oct of God. misuse or abuse of me VIC by any perswi other (hon 

Commodore, foiluie of electrlcol powef or failure of oir conditioning or 
(ill defecis. dcmagc or rrwlfunctions suffered by, or exishng in the VIC and devebpirig Me 

in fransit for repairs; or 
(iii) where repoirs or modificohons of the VIC ore ottempted or corned out by ony person not 

authorised by Commodore; or

Commodore shall not, except as expres^y provided hereir\ be tioWe for ony form of domoges 
whether direct, indirect incidental consequentKjl or othervflse orising out of or in connexion 
with this order, the supply of goods whethe"- such domoges resdt from negligence on the port 
of Commodore its servonls or ogents or ofhe^^wlse howsoever.
